Conversation, not presentation

by Jay Cross on July 30, 2010

When Jane Hart and I shared our thoughts on social learning at the Irish Learning Showcase in Dublin last week, a formal presentation would have run counter to our message.

Instead, Jane and I had an informal conversation in the front of the room. In time, others joined in.

The format enabled us change direction based on our reading of the mood in the room. I intend to propose conversations in lieu of presentations whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Jay (and Jane),
Work commitments stopped me attending the whole event, but I dropped up to the Guinness StoreHouse on Thursday afternoon (22nd July) for your book launch… but the event wasn’t taking place there – or at least any of the staff I talk to in the Enterprise Centre on the 3rd floor weren’t aware of it.
Anyhoo, profoundly sorry to have missed you, but at least I now know how Guinness is brewed.
Until next time, I guess…
Michael

BTW – where was the event held?

Michael, the book launch moved to Dublin’s oldest pub. I’ll post photos soon. Sorry to have send you on a wile goose chase, but if you’re in the wrong place, the Guiness Storehouse is not too bad! jay
