The answer is actually simple. Money. I have been in Information Technology for many years and found myself unemployed a few months ago. The job market is pretty slim pickings for project managers and I have some experience at developing training presentations for my previous employer. My B.S. degree is in Education and I see a better opportunity for a career in the area of Instructional Design. The distance learning programs that started in the Universities and colleges are now being seen in high schools. There is growth potential in this field. In order to land a job in that area I felt I needed to understand how to develop on-line courses. I hope the classes that I will write in the future will also produce results. Thank You Bobbie Hi Jay that is a Good Question.

I am currently taking a class in Instructional Design so that I can learn how to develop formal on-line courses. The first step we are taking is to understand how we ourselves learn. I identified with the information contained in this video. I have taken many formal classes in technology development but I always found that I learned best when I actually applied the classroom knowledge in the business environment. As this video points out the combination of formal learning and learning by trial and error can be used together. The benefits of informal learning should not be overlooked.
