Corporate universities, training programs, executive ed, knowledge management databases: it turns out that much of the stuff worth knowing people learn casually, from one another, not in structured programs or from structured content.
Longtime learning luminary Jay Cross has a book on informal learning on its way. With Jay’s help, let’s discuss:
- How has informal learning started to show up on corporate radar? What provoked the shift?
- What is the economic argument for informal learning? Is there an ROI for soft stuff like this?
- What are the implications for our workplaces? Our educational system? Governments?
